Case · Movie launch · Thailand

A giant gorilla. Built for a blockbuster.

For a big-screen monster movie opening in Thailand, we built the star of the film at full roar: a towering black gorilla inflatable, teeth bared, rising out of a jungle set with mist pouring off its shoulders.

How we built it.

A monster only works if it feels alive. So every detail was made to be seen up close: the teeth, the red eyes, the fur, and the mist rolling around it.

  1. 3D model of the gorilla on a designer's monitor01

    3D design

We modelled the gorilla in 3D first to lock its pose, the open roar and the proportions, so it reads as the film's monster from far away.

  2. The gorilla inflatable being sewn in our factory02

    Built in our factory

Cut, printed and sewn in-house in our own factory in Thailand, with the fur texture printed straight onto the fabric.

  3. Crew installing the gorilla inflatable at night03

    Installation

Our crew anchored it inside the jungle set and rigged the fog so mist pours out behind the gorilla, like it just stepped out of the film.

  4. The finished gorilla inflatable roaring behind the rope net04

    Opening day

Behind a rope-net fence, the roaring gorilla became the photo everyone had to take before the movie.
